eSOL Releases Isochronous Transfer and Audio Class Driver Support for its USB Host Driver

Tokyo, Japan. May 9, 2008 - eSOL, a leading developer of realtime embedded software solutions, today announced the addition of an isochronous transfer mode and an Audio Class Driver to its PrUSB®/Host product. PrUSB/Host is a full and comprehensive embedded USB host protocol stack from eSOL that includes the low-level USB driver and multiple class drivers. The addition of the isochronous transfer mode along with the Audio Class Driver will allow USB host-based products such as car infotainment systems and navigation systems to receive audio streaming in realtime over the standard USB connection from portable music players.

Most portable MP3 players in the market today deploy the USB Mass Storage Class to connect and transfer data to host devices mainly with the so-called 2-wire approach. With the increasing trends to connect such portable music players to non-PC devices over the USB cable, realtime audio streaming, exchange of music metadata, and higher audio quality are required, therefore, the isochronous transfer mode and the Audio Class Driver have become a solid requirement in addition to the conventional HID Class Driver, which has been supported by PrUSB/Host.

In addition to PrUSB/Host, eSOL offers realtime operating systems, middleware and integrated development environments. These have all been seamlessly integrated in a single package that gives building block flexibility, to enable OEMs and ODMs to jump-start their development from consumer electronics to in-car entertainment systems products. Our software has been optimized for each platform we support, and supports leading embedded-processor architecture including ARM, MIPS, and Power Architecture.

"We see more OEMs and ODMs supporting portable music players in their audio products, ranging from home stereo to in-car entertainment systems." said Nobuyuki Ueyama, the Executive Vice President of eSOL Co., Ltd. "This portable music player phenomena will continue to expand, becoming a differentiating feature for many OEMs and ODMs. I am pleased that our embedded USB host software solutions can help OEMs and ODMs to shorten their development cycle as well as provide a reliable way to connect portable music players with our proven USB expertise. We have a number of world-leading consumer electronics vendors deploying our solutions in their end-products. "
