Tokyo, Japan. June 16, 2009 - eSOL, a leading developer of real-time embedded software solutions,
announced today that its real-time operating system (RTOS) -based eCROS
integrated software platform has been selected for Casio's latest EXILIM®
digital camera models featuring high-speed burst shooting (the EXILIM EX-FC100)
and high-speed image processing (the EX-Z400). Continuous deployment of
eCROS enabled Casio to reuse existing software from previous EXILIM developments,
which helped Casio to produce reliable cameras while minimizing the cost
and development time.
eCROS software platform solutions feature RTOS, middleware, development
tools, and comprehensive professional services, seamlessly integrated together.
Casio has been using the eCROS software platform for their EXILIM product
lines, including EXILIM Pro EX-F1, EXILIM Card EX-S10, and EXILIM Zoom
EX-Z300, because of its reliability and proven performance. For the EXILIM
EX-FC100 and EX-Z400 models, Casio adopted the µTRON-based PrKERNELv4
RTOS - the most frequently-used RTOS in Japan. The PrKERNELv4 RTOS offers
a superior real-time response to assist EXILIM's optimal, stress-free user
experience. In addition, EX-FC100 also employed the PrUSB/Device USB driver,
and the eBinder Integrated Development Environments. The PrUSB/Device USB
driver provides data transfer services between cameras and USB-connected
host devices such as PCs and printers. The eBinder Integrated Development
Environments enable high-quality software development with minimum time
and cost, since they are designed specifically for the development and
debugging of complex RTOS-based embedded systems.
The EXLIM EX-FC100 is a compact camera that fits perfectly in the palm
of the hand, offering a high-speed 30 shots/second burst rate and high-speed
movies at a maximum of 1000fps. It also provides slow motion view, allowing
users to press the shutter while viewing the LCD monitor, thus selecting
the perfect moment to capture a scene that looks as if time has been slowed
down. The EX-Z400, on the other hand, features 12.1 megapixels, a 28mm
wide-angle lens with 4x optical zoom, and mechanical image stabilization.
Its high-speed image processing abilities makes it easy for users to produce
creative composite scenes. For example, users can cut and paste several
rapid-succession images to create a moving subject on a still background.
